The FreedomSkate Team
Tomo Chisnall
Hi, my name is Tomo Chisnall and I am the founder of FreedomSkate.
In 2007 one of my best friends was diagnosed with Cancer. We stood beside him and his wife and supported them till the very end .. unfortunately Marcus lost his battle to cancer. But he lived an amazing life full of great achievements and adventures!

I'll never forget the day that i found out he didn't make it. But i know if Marcus had never passed away, we would have never started FreedomSkate , and better yet , he's in the house of God!
A lot of people will say that i am the heart of FreedomSkate , but to be honest that's utter bollocks. You see, on this page you'll find my team who back me day in, day out, no matter how crazy my ideas and dreams are.
Together we are the heart-beat of FreedomSkate.
This is for you bud.x

Kris Seymour
Hi my name is Kris Seymour I’m 16 and still at school.
I first became a part of FreedomSkate when I meet Tomo Chisnall in the mall one day. It was fate because if we both didn’t have our long boards we wouldn’t have talked to each other. This was when Tomo told me about his dream to skate the length of New Zealand for cancer. I was very skeptical at first and thought about all the odds against him but when I got home it crossed my mind how big this would be, what a difference it would make and that was then I decided I will help Tomo in any way I could to make this amazing dream become a reality.
My part in FreedomSkate was to help with fundraising barbeques and get the word out for sponsors. I also skated a good part of Picton to Christchurch with Tomo for support. this was when I really saw what an incredible man Tomo was how he had gone through so much and was still burning my ass off .
FreedomSkate to me is a revolution, saying skaters can do something great, getting the voice out that cancer is not a word, helping those who have gone through so much and to make FreedomSkate grow is an ultimate achievement because it can be done.
I am going to spend the rest of my life as a piece of FreedomSkate. After meeting all the people and families who have been affected by cancer, I will never forget this.
One country at a time, one push at a time, one cause all the way. I’ll support Tomo and FreedomSkate until the end.

Matt Hassan
Hey my name is Matt Hassan, I am 16 years old and go to Garin College and I love it.
I became a member of FreedomSkate at the end of 2009. I became a member of FreedomSkate because sadly I lost my Granddad and a Mother of a great friend to the disease Cancer. I was drawn to Tomo (founder of FreedomSkate) for 2 main reasons. 1. He was a long boarder and 2. His vision to raise money for a disease so close to me. My part in FreedomSkate 2009 was a driver for the Picton to Christchurch leg of the journey, but since then i have just been a friend to Tomo and do my best to support and help him the best I can.

To me FreedomSkate looks like hope...the look in a cancer patients eye when they pull you over on the road to say thank you, FreedomSkate looks like hope, FreedomSkate is love.
